Dr. Gillian Alton is an epidemiologist at CHEO Research Institute and an Epidemiologist at the Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN) Ontario. She is also adjunct faculty in the Department of Population Medicine at the University of Guelph. Dr. Alton obtained her PhD in Epidemiology at the University of Guelph in 2014. Her current research focuses on perinatal infectious disease surveillance, applied public health research and pediatric diabetes.

COVID-19 vaccination around the time of conception and risk of placenta-mediated adverse pregnancy outcomes

This population‐based cohort study of 80 253 pregnancies identified a small increase in the risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy associated with COVID‐19 vaccination around conception or the first trimester of pregnancy and no increased risk of other placenta‐mediated outcomes.
