This study developed and validated the PLAY+ (Play, Land, Animals, You and +) framework to link active outdoor play with the One Health approach, highlighting its potential to advance interconnected human, animal, and environmental health. Using a scoping review, conceptual mapping, and expert consultations, the study identified 23 relevant articles and three key themes: climate-resilient play environments, human–animal interactions and public health, and environmental stewardship. Although the framework underscores the cross-sector benefits of active outdoor play, it is presented as a conceptual and heuristic tool that requires ongoing empirical testing, precautionary application, and sensitivity to context, risks, and unintended consequences.
