My CHEO Story
I have been a patient at CHEO since I was 4 years old. Doctors had a difficult time diagnosing the issues, so practically every department was on the case. What started out as an ear infection developed into ADEM, rheumatic fever and meningitis. I was then in a long-term ADEM study. I was later diagnosed with multiple autoimmune disorders.

Why I'm involved
I found out about this opportunity during my time on the CHEO Youth Forum. While growing up I was worried that people would look at me differently if they knew my story. I have realized that there is nothing to be ashamed of and that if I share my experiences it could help others and that I can encourage others to be brave enough to speak up too. Being sick was something that happened to me but it didn’t hold me back. I look at it as an experience that made me stronger and given me the knowledge and skills to hopefully be able to help others.
