My CHEO Story

We began our journey in Southwestern Ontario, moving between our local family doctor, pediatrician, hospital in Kitchener-Waterloo, McMaster Children’s Hospital, and Sick Kids in Toronto. While there, we had experience with neurosurgery, neurology, ophthalmology, dentistry, eating disorder clinic, PICU, NICU, MFM and genetics. We also had experience with a variety of community-based resources, such as school preparation, speech language therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. We are so grateful to our Southwestern Ontario teams for everything they have done for our family, for their help and their support. We moved to Ottawa in 2015 and began our journey with CHEO. We were now involved with complex care, developmental care, and the mental health system. As we age through the system, we have experience now with a wider variety of agencies that interact with the mental health system and moving into adulthood. We are very grateful to everyone we have had the opportunity to work with here in Ottawa, thank you for your kindness, caring, and support.

Why I'm involved

I would like to be involved in this work because I would like to have the opportunity to give back in some small way to the community that has given us so much, by sharing our story and experiences, and with my education in information management.
