Dr. Virginie Cobigo obtained her PhD in Psychology from the Université du Québec à Montréal and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Public Health Sciences at Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada. She has several years of academic and clinical experience working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Canada, France and England. She leads a program of health and social services research that aims to study and improve services outcomes for children and youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Her research program encompasses three streams: 1) Examining how to best support the social inclusion of people with cognitive disabilities, and monitoring social inclusion barriers and facilitators 2) Making the environment more accessible to persons with cognitive disabilities, and 3) Fostering inclusive research approaches.
She is co-founder of a social enterprise designed to enable sustainable and universal accessibility, and social inclusion for persons with cognitive disabilities.
